Tips to Outsmart Phishing

Hey there, humans! Finn here—your Parapup of the Month 🐾

And today, I’m on a mission to keep your inbox clean and your data safe.

There’s a fishy smell going around, and it’s not the leftovers someone forgot in the breakroom fridge. I’m talkin’ phishing scams—emails designed to trick you into clicking on bad links, downloading malware, or giving up private info.

Don’t worry, I’ve got your back (and I never chase my tail when it comes to cybersecurity).

🛑 Finn’s 5 Signs an Email Might Be a Scam

1.  Strange senders

If it’s coming from "Amazon123help@yahoo.com" or anything that feels off—delete it. Real companies don’t use sketchy addresses.

2. Too much urgency

“Click NOW or lose access!” That kind of pressure is a classic scam tactic. Real companies won’t try to scare you into acting fast—they’ll give you time and context.

3. Suspicious links or attachments

Hover over links. If the URL isn’t what you expected (or smells like danger), don’t fetch.

4. Typos galore

Scammers rarely use spellcheck. If it reads weird, it is weird.

5. Requests for private info

No real business asks for passwords, social security numbers, or secret family recipes via email.

🐕 What To Do If You Smell a Phish

🐾 Don’t click.

🐾 Don’t reply.

🐾 DO forward it to your IT team (hi, that’s us!) or flag it for review.

🐶 Final Bark from Finn

Phishing emails can be tricky—but with a little training, even you can sniff them out like a Parapup.

And remember, when in doubt, ask Paragus. We love helping our clients stay secure (and petting good dogs).
